Checkups and digital x-rays

A checkup is a short conversation and a careful look. Your dentist checks each tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissue of your mouth, and uses digital x-rays when they are due to see between teeth and below the gumline. You see the same pictures we do, so every recommendation makes sense.

Professional cleanings

Even great brushers build up tartar that a toothbrush can't remove. A hygienist cleans it away, polishes your teeth and points out any spots that need a little more attention at home. Most people do well with a cleaning every six months. If your gums need extra care, we may suggest coming in more often.

Tooth-colored fillings

When we find a cavity, we remove the decay and rebuild the tooth with a filling shaded to match. Catching cavities while they are small keeps the repair small too, which is one more reason regular checkups pay off.

Crowns

A crown is a custom cap that covers a tooth that is cracked, worn or heavily filled. It protects what is left of the tooth and lets you chew normally again. Crowns are also used to finish a tooth after a root canal and on top of a dental implant.

Root canal treatment

Deep decay, a crack or an injury can let bacteria reach the nerve inside a tooth. That often shows up as a toothache that lingers, sensitivity to hot or cold, or swelling near the tooth. A root canal removes the infected tissue, cleans and seals the inside of the tooth, and in most cases a crown protects it afterward.

With modern numbing, most patients say the treatment feels much like getting a filling. The goal is simple: stop the pain and keep your natural tooth. If you are nervous, ask about our sedation options.

Sealants for kids and teens

The chewing surfaces of back teeth have deep grooves where food and bacteria hide. A sealant is a thin, clear coating that fills those grooves. It is quick, painless and a smart step for children as their permanent molars come in.

Night guards for grinding and clenching

Waking up with a sore jaw, headaches or flattened teeth can be signs of grinding while you sleep. A custom night guard cushions your teeth and takes pressure off your jaw. We take a scan or impression so it fits comfortably.

Gum disease care

Bleeding when you brush is often the first sign of gingivitis, the early, reversible stage of gum disease. Left alone, it can lead to deeper pockets, bone loss and loose teeth. Depending on what we find, care can range from a thorough cleaning and better home habits to a deep cleaning below the gumline and closer follow-up visits.

Oral cancer screening

We look for unusual spots, sores or lumps in your mouth and throat as part of your regular exam. It takes a few minutes, and finding a problem early matters. Tell us about any sore that hasn't healed in two weeks.

Common questions

How often should my family come in for checkups?

Most children and adults do well with a checkup and cleaning every six months. If you have gum disease or a higher risk of cavities, your dentist may recommend visits more often.

Do root canals hurt?

The tooth is fully numbed before treatment, and most patients say it feels much like a filling. The procedure is done to relieve the pain an infected tooth causes. Some tenderness for a few days afterward is normal.

Is it better to save a tooth with a root canal or pull it?

When a tooth can be saved, keeping it is usually the best option for chewing and for the bone around it. Your dentist will show you the x-ray and explain your options, including what replacing the tooth would involve.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major dental insurance and help file your claims. Call us at 903-572-4141 and we will check your plan before your visit. Cherry financing is also available.
